横浜事務所からボッシュ・アメリカの営業部門に赴任している従業員に駐在生活について聞いてみました。仕事に異文化交流に大活躍する彼女の生の声をご紹介いたします。

・仕事内容は？
北米に拠点を構えている日系自動車メーカー向けの営業担当をしています。
米国の北西部にあるミシガン州デトロイト郊外にオフィスがあり、私が担当するお客様はミシガン州、オハイオ州、インディアナ州、そしてメキシコ国内数箇所と、広範囲にわたっています。
メキシコでは2社のお客様、3箇所のボッシュ工場と関わりがあり、アメリカ国内よりメキシコ拠点とのやり取りの方が多いかもしれません。メキシコの方々は丁寧で親切な印象で、価値観の違いを超えて、一緒に楽しく仕事をしています。
・アメリカでの駐在生活はどうですか？
プライベートでは、アメリカ大陸北から南まで、様々な場所へ観光に行きました。今のところ、最北端はカナダのイエローナイフ、最南端はアルゼンチンのブエノスアイレスです。
イエローナイフではなんとオーロラが見えたんですよ（写真2枚目）。
アメリカ国内は片道5時間程度であれば、車で移動するのが一般的で、途中で立ち寄る小さな町の、なんちゃってジャパニーズレストランを開拓するのが、ちょっとした楽 しみになってます。また、各地特有の文化に触れるたびに、初めて体験することが沢山あり、自らの器が広くなるような気がしています。

20代、30代の若手～中堅どころの社員が、海外でグローバルに活躍している姿は頼もしいですね！

"Letters from Abroad: From the Sales Department of Bosch USA"

Let's listen to a representative who got transferred from the Yokohama Office to the Bosch USA Sales Department. We would like to introduce a female associate who participates in inter-cultural exchange.
She was transferred to the outskirts of Detroit, Michigan.

- What's your work content?
I am a sales account manager for Japanese car manufacturers in North America.
With the office being in the outskirts of Detroit, Michigan my sphere of responsibilities includes locations in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Mexico. Actually, I might even have more to do with Mexico than with the United States. The Mexicans I work with are polite and friendly, and don't care about differences of values so much – they're nice to work with.

- What's the life in the U.S. like?
On my own time I've traveled to a lot of places, covering both North and South America. The farthest north was Yellowknife, Canada and the farthest south Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In the U.S. traveling stretches of 6 hours by car is normal. While passing through one of the many small towns on the way the fun thought of opening up a "Japanese" restaurant there came up. Also, I got to experience a lot of new things unique to the places I've been to. I think that has broadened my horizon.

Being a young associate in their 20s or 30s and participating globally overseas seems to be quite promising!
From now on we would like to continue introducing Bosch associates who work abroad.
