2016年4月よりボッシュ・タイの営業統括部門に赴任している従業員に駐在生活について聞いてみました。
異国の地で仕事にプライベートに、充実した生活を送っている彼の生の声をご紹介いたします。

・仕事内容は？
顧客営業統括部として、タイ国内に拠点を構える日系自動車メーカーの営業を担当しています。
普段はバンコク市内にあるオフィスで仕事をしていますが、車で2時間ほどの位置にあるお客様およびボッシュの工場に出張することも多いです。

・タイでの駐在生活はどうですか？
バンコクには日本人が多く、必要なものはほとんど手に入ります。むしろ、手に入らないものを探すほうが難しいかもしれません。
例えば食事。タイの屋台フード、本場のタイ料理も絶品ですが、日本食が恋しくなったときにはラーメンやお寿司などの日本食レストランや居酒屋と何でも揃っています。
休日は、赴任に際し始めたゴルフや、住んでいるコンドミニアム内に併設されているジムで体を動かし、リフレッシュしています！

タイに赴任してまだ4ヶ月ほどですが、とても快適で充実した生活を送っています。
とはいえ、異国の地ですので、もちろん言葉や文化、風習が異なり、生活をしていく上で驚くこともあります。
例えば、交通マナーは歩行者よりも車優先ですし、タクシー料金がメーターではなく運転手の気分で決まることも多いです。
目的地が遠かったり、道が混んでいると乗車拒否されることも当たり前なので、乗せてくれるだけありがたいですが（笑）。
日本とは異なるタイの文化にうまく溶け込めるよう、残りの駐在生活を楽しみたいと思います！

Letters from abroad: Bosch Thailand sales management department

We asked our associate who has been assigned to Bosch Thailand sales management department about expatriate life.
Let's hear firsthand about his professionally and privately enriched life in a foreign country.

・What is your work?
As part of the customer sales management department I handle the sales to Japanese car manufacturers which hold locations in Thailand.
Generally I work at the office in Bangkok although business trips of about two hours by car to customers and Bosch plants happen often.

・How is the expatriate life in Thailand?
There are a lot of Japanese in Bangkok and I can practically get anything I need. It's maybe even more difficult to search for something you cannot get.

Let's take food as an example. Thai street food and the local cuisine are exquisite, and should you still crave for Japanese food there are ramen and sushi restaurants, izakayas, you name it.
On days off, I enjoy refreshing by playing golf or working out at the gym located within the condominium!

It's only been four months since I got assigned to Thailand but since I've been living an enriched life with plenty amenities.
Still, there are things that surprise me about daily life, since it is a foreign country, language, culture and customs are naturally different too.
For example, in the rules of the road cars come before pedestrians, and many taxis have no meter so the driver just sets the price to his liking. If the destination is far I am just happy if I don't get turned down with in midst the hustle of the streets.
I want to enjoy the rest of the assignment to blend into the Thai culture!
