現在、ドイツに赴任している中央購買部門の従業員に、駐在生活について聞いてみました。
異国の地で仕事にプライベートに、充実した生活を送っている彼女の生の声をご紹介いたします。

●仕事内容は？

シュトゥットガルト中央駅より電車で約15分、ポルシェ博物館のそばに拠点を構える中央購買部門でITシステムの担当をしています。
私が任されているのは副資材購買の実績を収集・レポートするアプリケーションで、毎月45カ国、約50システム分のデータを世界中のユーザーが活用できる よう加工しリリースします。また、次世代システムのコンセプトやデザインの開発にも関わっており、セントラルならではの業務に喜びとやりがいを感じていま す。
職場は国際色豊かで私が所属するチームでも国籍は10を超え、公用語はドイツ語です。多様な仲間とともに課題に取り組み、新しいものを創造する毎日はとても刺激的です！

●駐在生活はどうですか？

オフィスのすぐ裏は鹿やタカ、キツネなど野生動物が生息する自然保護区で、その自然の豊かさに驚かされます。街を囲む丘には葡萄畑が広がり、毎年今の時期にはワイン祭りが開催され同僚と土地のワインを楽しんでいます。
豊かな自然がある一方、自動車の街というだけあって、こだわりの車種やアンティークカーをよく見かけます。車好きの方にとっては「休日は大通りを眺めているだけで楽しい」そう。

街を歩けばゴットリープ・ダイムラーやカール・ベンツ、ヴィルヘルム・マイバッハ、もちろんロバート・ボッシュといった黎明期の企業家や開発者の足跡を見つけることができ、日常の中で自動車の歴史を肌で感じられる、そんな街です。

宮殿広場を中心とする歴史的建築エリアだけでなく、近代建築もシュトゥットガルトの魅力のひとつで、個人的に気に入っているのが図書館です。
4階からの吹き抜けの美しさは一見の価値があり、施設全体の居心地と利便性も良く図書館という機能に留まらない憩いの場です！

Letters from abroad: Bosch Germany central purchasing department

We asked our associate who is currently posted at Bosch Germany's central purchasing department about expatriate life.

●What is your work?

I'm in charge of IT at the central purchasing department which is located next to the Porsche Museum, about 15 minutes by train from Stuttgart main station.
My responsibility lies in the processing and releasing of data through an application which collects and reports indirect material purchasing results. The monthly data of 45 countries and about 50 systems can then be utilized by users worldwide. Being involved in central tasks such as the development of next generation system concepts and designs is rewarding and gives a sense of satisfaction.

With more than ten nationalities represented in the team I am in the workplace is very international, though the common language is German. It is very exciting to work with a diverse team and create new things every day!

●How is the expatriate life?

I was amazed by the bountiful nature, since there is a nature reserve which is inhabited by deer, hawks, foxes etc., right behind the office. Vineyards are spread out on the hills surrounding the town and me and my colleagues enjoy the local wine at wine festivals which are held every year in this season.
Of course the rich nature is one side, but since the city is known as car town a lot of different models and even historic cars can be found. Car fans can enjoy days off by just watching cars on the main street.

When walking the town you can find traces of early entrepreneurs and developers such as Gottfried Daimler, Carl Benz, Wilhelm Maybach, and of course Robert Bosch. The car history can be experienced here on a daily basis.
The historical architecture centered around the palace square is not the only attraction. Stuttgart also fascinates with modern architecture, of which I personally favor the library.

With the beautifully open four floors it's well worth seeing. The whole building convinces with its comfort and convenience as a place to relax!
