2017年4月よりボッシュ・ドイツの顧客プロジェクト管理総括部に赴任している従業員に駐在生活について聞いてみました！
異国の地で仕事にプライベートに、充実した生活を送っている彼の声をご紹介いたします。

・仕事内容は？
顧客プロジェクト管理総括部にてプロジェクト責任者としてマネジメントに従事しています。オフィスはシュビバディンゲン(ドイツ南部シュツットガルト)に位置し、ドイツ・日本両国の研究開発部署を含む多くの関係部署と会議を行いプロジェクトをスムーズに進めるための意思決定を行っています。
文化や言葉の壁を超えて人と人を繋げひとつの物を作りあげるグローバルプロジェクトには多くの苦労や高いハードルがありますがやりがいのある仕事であるため楽しくやっています。

・ドイツでの生活はどうですか？
当然のことながら日本と文化が異なりますが、一番驚いたのは2014年末から2年半弱赴任していたフランスの風習・文化・言葉・国民性と全く異なることです（隣接国なのに)！道路標識や建築デザイン、ファッションを見ても三者三様です。どれも歴史的背景や国民性がとても良く反映されており多様な視点でモノを見てるだけで楽しくなります。
食の違いが良い例です。フランスは肉・魚介・野菜・スイーツ・ワインなど洗練された食事を好みますが、ドイツは気候や地形などの違いにより作物が多く取れないことがあり、質素な食事や保存食の方が好まれる歴史的背景がありますので、陸続きの国でありますがレストランなどで提供されるメニューには大きな違いがあります。

また、旅行を楽しんでいます！自宅から車で2時間の距離に位置するフランクフルト国際空港から気軽にEU圏内を移動できるんです。加えて、好きな時期に好きなだけ休暇を取ることができ、夏休みやクリスマス時期は平均3～4週間の休暇を全ての人が取得します。行きたいところへ行きたいときに旅行できる環境のおかげで、ワークライフバランスが良く取れた生活を送っています。

Letters from abroad: Bosch Germany project manager for Japanese car manufacture
We asked our associate who is responsible for project managing for Japanese car manufacture and has been assigned to Bosch Germany, about his expatriate life.
Let’s hear firsthand about his professionally and privately enriched life in a foreign country.

・What do you do?
I engage in project control as a project manager for Japanese car manufacture. My office is located in Schwieberdingen, which is near Stuttgart city in the south of Germany.
My day-to-day tasks are making decisions to carry out projects smoothly and to make them a success. Collecting information via communication with colleagues in Germany and Japan is one of the important key elements to make our projects successful.
Although connecting people to reach one goal often has some difficulties derived from cultural differences, I enjoy being responsible for this challenging job!

・What's the life in Germany like?
As you can easily imagine, the German culture is not the same as in Japan.
What surprised me the most is that German culture is totally different from French culture in custom, cuisine, and language composition that I learned when I had worked in France before coming to Germany, even though Germany sits next to France.
For example traffic sign, design of architecture, fashion, and a way of thinking, they have their own special characteristics and also are not comparable to each other. Since several kinds of elements like historical background are always behind things, seeing things from several perspectives is so interesting for me.
Luckily, the international Frankfurt airport is only two hours drive from my house. Thanks to this, I can travel a lot easier to the place I want to go and this makes my life in Germany much more enjoyable and helps to keep a good WORK-LIFE balance.
