学生からのライブレポートも最終回となります。
今回は、参加学生Fさんが2週間を通して感じた、学生である今身につけられること、についてです。

今回のインターンシップで、私はエンジンを制御するソフトウェアが正常に機能するか評価するという業務を行っています。
大学院で燃焼について研究している私にとって、ソフトウェアは新鮮で、これまで自分が学んできた専門知識が活かされることはあまりありません。
実際、私たちが社会に出て企業で働くときに、大学での研究内容に完全にマッチした仕事に就ける人はそれほど多くないのではないでしょうか？

そのときに、これまで学んできたものが実際働く中でどのように活かせるのか、ということを考えながら業務を行っています。
そこで実感したのは、研究内容よりも研究をするというプロセスを遂行することが、社会に出たときに役に立つ力だということです。
研究をするプロセスというのはある事象に対して問題を明確化し、大学で学んだ基礎的な知識からその解を探し、得られた結果について他人に理解してもらえるように論理的に説明するということです。

もちろん、大学で学んだ専門知識が業務に必要になることもあるでしょう。しかし、仕事で必要となる専門的な知識は、より経験ベースなところがあると感じました。
変化の激しい現代社会において、同じ専門分野でずっと働けるとは限りません。
そのような状況において、研究をするプロセスで身につけた問題解決能力は、どんな分野においてもエンジニアとして求められる能力だと思います。
大学で研究に戻ったとき、このことを意識しながら研究に取り組んでいこうと思います！

「働く」経験を通して、学生の皆さんが様々なことを感じていたことは、一緒に日々を過ごした人事担当者にも伝わってきました。

As our Global Internship @Bosch (goo.gl/V5iEZN) is drawing to a close, we asked our interns what lessons they will take away from their time in Vietnam. Here's what one of our talented participants has to say after two weeks full of challenging missions, exciting experiences and new acquaintances:

Throughout the internship, I've been in charge of testing the ECU software which controls the engine in a vehicle. I'm majoring in combustion engineering, so this mission related to software is very new for me and my technical knowledge is not exceedingly helpful this time around. I think the number of people who get a job that matches their research topic in university isn't that high.

Over the past weeks, I've come to feel that the process of research is more helpful for us than the results of research themselves. The process of research means first defining the problem, then solving the problem utilizing all the knowledge at my disposal, and finally explaining the solution in simple logical terms so as to get others to understand as well.

While the technical skills we acquired may be needed as well, I think these skills are mainly based on the experiences we gain through working.
In today's rapidly changing society, it is difficult to work in only one field for a long time. What is required of an engineer today is the ability to solve problems that no one has yet found the solutions for. I intend to keep this newfound knowledge in mind for my future research until long after the internship.

We, the HR team that spent the days together with the students, felt that they enjoyed getting involved in different tasks.
Feeling distressed, enjoying a sense of achievement… those are experiences that the students can take with them into their near future as globally working engineers. Since there is only little left of the students days, take the experiences you can now!
