ボッシュは、民間企業の財団としてはドイツでも有数の規模をもつボッシュ財団を有しています。この非営利組織である公益法人「ロバート・ボッシュ財団」は、ロバート・ボッシュGmbHの株式の大半を保有しています（持株比率92％、議決権なし）。
そこから生み出される配当をもって、ロバート・ボッシュ財団は、創業者の社会奉仕の理念を実践しています。ロバート・ボッシュ財団が重点を置いているテーマには、ヘルスケア、サイエンス、教育、国際理解の促進などがあり、毎年約800件のプロジェクトを支援しています。

国際理解の促進のためのプロジェクトの中には、日本とドイツの人的・学術交流も含まれ、様々な形で実施しています。

そのうちの一つ、「日独ヤングリーダーズ・フォーラム」は毎年夏に行われるサマースクールで、今年で10年目を迎えました。
参加者は、民間企業、メディア、政治、省庁、研究機関など、様々なバックグランドをもった、日独の若手リーダーたちで、毎年決められたテーマについて泊り込みでディスカッションします。

今年は、「東アジアとヨーロッパそれぞれの地域安定および地域内協力」というテーマで開催されました。

参加者は、若手とはいえ、それぞれの分野での専門家です。実際に参加者にお話を伺ったところ、参加者がそれぞれ培ってきた知見をシェアし、議論を戦わせることで、参加者全員にとって大変有意義な経験となったとのことでした。

9月11日、このプログラムの一環として、ボッシュ財団およびベルリン日独センターが主催して、公開シンポジウムが開催されました。元日本銀行総裁の白川方明氏や、前駐独日本国大使の神余隆博氏等その道の著名な専門家をお迎えしてのシンポジウムで、プレゼンテーションの後のパネルディスカッションや質疑応答も大変盛り上がりました。

さらなる日独関係の深化、そしてよりよい世界を作っていくために、ボッシュ財団は今後とも国際理解の促進のための活動を続けていきます。

International activities of Robert Bosch Stiftung

Bosch has "The Robert Bosch Stiftung" as one of the major German foundations associated with a private company. This non-profit foundation holds a 92% percent stake in the share capital of Robert Bosch GmbH with no voting rights.
With the proportion of the distributed dividends in the company, the foundation has been carrying out social spirit of its founder Robert Bosch. Every year, The Robert Bosch Stiftung supports some 800 projects concentrating on such areas as health, science, education, international relations and so forth.
Among the projects on international relations, it also aims to promote interactions of people between Japan and Germany in a number of ways.
One of the activities is "German-Japanese Young Leaders Forum", an annually-held summer school which celebrates the tenth year this year.
The program addresses young German and Japanese prospective leaders from a wide range of backgrounds including private companies, media, politics, research and such. They stay together at the same facility for the whole days, discussing one current topic each year. This year, the theme was "Local stability and cooperation in East Asia and Europe".
Although young, all the participants are professionals in each field. We actually talked with some participants, and they said it was a fruitful experience for all of them to share their respective knowledge while they discuss.
On September 11, the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Japanese-German Center Berlin organized a public symposium as part of this program. Distinguished speakers included Professor Masaaki Shirakawa, former Governor of the Bank of Japan, Professor Takahiro Shinyo, former Japanese Ambassador to Germany and other prestigious experts at the symposium, delivering lively panel discussions after each presentation with the participants.
The Robert Bosch Stiftung is determined to continue its commitment to further international understanding, with the aim of a better German-Japan relationship and a better world.
