Yokohama - Bosch Corporation, the Japanese subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, a leading global supplier of technology and services, announced that Bosch Rexroth, which leads the Industrial Technology business sector within the Bosch group, has provided fluid power (hydraulics) training kits to Yokohama National University free of charge. Following this provision, a "Fluid Power Training Laboratory" has been set up at the university based on these kits.

Recently, while hydraulic equipment plays a key role to support a wide range of industries, learning opportunities for hydraulic engineering at higher education have been declining. Against this situation, Bosch Rexroth aims to contribute to the development of human resources who will support Japan's manufacturing industry by promoting industry-academia collaboration with universities.

The fluid power training kit includes key equipment and control systems for the fluid power field, such as motors, pumps, control valves, cylinders and more. Students studying in the Mechanical Engineering Program class at the Graduate School of Engineering Science at Yokohama National University will be able to use the latest training kit at the Fluid Power Training Laboratory to build their own fluid power system*. The Laboratory will enable hands-on training where students can experience the objectives and challenges of fluid power systems through measurement and analysis of the equipment behavior.

Furthermore, Bosch Rexroth will deliver a total of four lectures on the latest hydraulics technologies this term, which will include a special lecture by Dr. Steffan Haack, CEO of Bosch Rexroth AG in Germany, as well as lectures by Bosch Rexroth associates. Through classroom instruction and hands-on lab training, students will have opportunities to learn about the latest technology trends in hydraulics, using the latest equipment.

Bosch Rexroth will also implement a similar program at Hosei University. The Fluid Power Training Laboratory will be opened for the Hosei University Graduate School of Engineering and Design, with lectures to be held four times in the second half of 2025. Bosch will continue to collaborate with educational institutions with the aim of contributing to the development of human resources to support Japan's manufacturing industry.

* A drive method for operating and stopping machinery and equipment using the fluid power of substances such as oil, water, and air.
