Key evaluation points are as follows:
• Contribution to create a lively community through a public-private partnership project integrating a Bosch location with a local facility.
• Bold incorporation of real plants, such as large green walls in the atrium and office greenery.
• Contribution to developing loyalty to the company through product displays, including the corporate showroom on the first floor.
Christian Mecker, president and representative director of Bosch Corporation, said on the award: "I am extremely delighted that Bosch has been awarded the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. Our new headquarters features an open office design that promotes collaboration among associates, and I am proud to say that it is one of the most outstanding offices among all Bosch locations worldwide. This new headquarters represents Bosch's commitment to contributing to Japan for many years to come."
Office design promoting collaboration across divisions
With the relocation of its headquarters, Bosch consolidated approximately 2,000 associates from business units and group companies previously scattered across eight locations in the Tokyo-Yokohama areas into the new headquarters. The new headquarters is located about two kilometers from the existing R&D facility in Ushikubo, Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama. More than 40 percent of the associates of the Bosch Group are now consolidated in these two facilities. It promotes collaboration and cooperation across divisions at these two facilities and will contribute to further strengthening development capabilities in Japan.
The new headquarters is designed to enhance communication across divisions. The office area is divided into three zones – "Communication Zone," "Agile Zone," and "Individual Zone" – allowing associates to choose their workspace according to their purpose. Additionally, two atriums called "Vertical Connections" are incorporated into the building, creating vertical connections that allow associates to move easily between floors.
Bosch Forum Tsuzuki: open to the community, contributing to local liveliness
In 2018, Bosch was selected by Yokohama City as a prospective partner for a "project to utilize the planned site for the development of a Ward Cultural Center in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama City." This project marks the first public-private partnership project for Bosch worldwide. As a result, Bosch's new headquarters and the Tsuzuki Ward Cultural Center (nickname: Bosch Hall) were completed in September 2024. Café 1886 at Bosch, located on the first floor of the headquarters and opened at the time of its completion, is always attracting many customers as a community-based cafe. Furthermore, in November 2024, Bosch concluded a "Comprehensive Partnership Agreement to Invigorate the Local Community" with Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama, naming the entire area including Bosch's new headquarters, Bosch Hall, and the all-weather plaza between the two facilities as "Bosch Forum Tsuzuki." Bosch has been implementing a variety of programs to contribute to invigorate the local community. Furthermore, the all-weather plaza, nicknamed "Platz," opened for public use on September 1, 2025.
Jun Shimoyamada, senior general manager of FUSION Project (the new headquarters and R&D facility construction project), Bosch Corporation, said, "We are deeply honored to receive this award. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has worked with Bosch on this construction project since the decision to build the new headquarters was made in 2018. Bosch's headquarters not only functions as a corporate office but also provides an open space to the local community as the Bosch Forum Tsuzuki. We will continue to collaborate with Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama City, to further contribute to creating a lively community."
